The funny story is that the first time when I went to Bali, I didn’t really liked it. I spent only 6 days though . I found it busy and average compare to South America and other countries . But at that time, the music, smell, smiles from nice local peoples already got me .

I went back alone 3 years later and I did find all the best places and I felt in love 💙.

The kindness and the smile of the locals is unmatched, the food is amazing, the landscape is stunning , the forrest and beaches are incredibles, Balinese hinduism is very interesting too .

What I really like in Bali is the versatility of the Island. You have a style for every taste. If you are spiritual you can go To Ubud, if you are into Yoga you can go to Ubud or Canggu, you like the popular simple vibe of mass tourism it would be Kuta , if you like resort and shopping it would be Seminyak, surf would be Canggu and Uluwatu, party would be Canggu or the Gilli T island , Scuba diving Ahmet, you don’t want to see anyone and be in the middle of the rice paddies ? Get lost North of Ubud. You REALLY don’t want to see anyone, go up north .

As I said, locals are AMAZING, then the peoples living on this beautiful island ( expats ) are incredible too. It is a mix of creative people, edgy, spirituals , entrepreneurs, digital nomads, influencers, Yogis , fitness peoples, life coaches. A perfect mix of beautiful energy on the island of gods .

Between traditional dances, active volcano , the pristine beaches, the Infiniti pools, balinese massage, the local food, you won’t be bored !

So PLEASE, do like me, give it some time, open your heart , and you won’t be disappointed. You will find most of the VERY important informations about BALI that I cumulate over the years.

BALI MAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS

The most popular and well-known island in Indonesia is Bali, a paradise region that attracts tourists worldwide. Thousands of tourists visit Bali’s sandy beaches each year to enjoy the magnificent beauty, distinctive culture, and mouthwatering cuisine.

The Bali province, which is between Java and Lombok, also has several tiny islands off its southwest coast. Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, Serangan, and Manganese are well-known scuba diving locations.

When was Bali discovered?

A squadron of Portuguese ships is said to have landed on Bali’s north shore in 1512, marking the beginning of European interaction with the island. Later, in 1597, the Dutch explorer Cornelius de Houtman set foot on the territory, and a second Dutch trip to Bali was launched in 1601.

History of Bali

Since prehistoric times, people have lived in Bali, and the earliest settlers were likely of Austronesian ancestry. However, people migrated to the island from all across Asia, including South China, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Oceania, bringing with them a variety of cultural influences. Particularly Indian Hinduism, which is believed to have originated in the first century, has had a significant impact on Balinese culture.

Throughout history, the island has been controlled by several dynasties, with the Belanjoing Pillar inscription serving as the earliest proof. This pillar, close to Sanur Beach, was constructed in the first decade of the tenth century. Sri Kesara, a Buddhist King of the Sailendra Dynasty, wrote this historic document. The Warmadewa Dynasty of Bali, the first era of known governance on the island, is thought to have been started by Sri Kesara.

The Majapahit dynasty succeeded the Warmadewa dynasty, which lasted until the 12th century. It governed until the second half of the 17th century and heavily influenced the island with Javanese culture. During this time, Bali acquired Javanese culture widely, which is reflected in much of the island’s architecture, dance, theatre, sculpture, and paintings.

Religion in Bali

Although Islam is the most common religion in most of Indonesia, Hinduism is practiced by many Balinese people. More than 80% of Balinese people practice Hinduism, compared to only 13.4% of Muslims on the island.

The Hinduism practiced in Bali is distinctive to the island and vastly different from that practiced in other nations. Hinduism is supposed to have come to Indonesia from India in the first century, where it was later assimilated with conventional animistic practices and beliefs.

Culture And Traditions Of Bali

Balinese customs and Hindu-Buddhist religion combine to form Balinese culture. Its dance, theatre, and sculpture are best known.

The food of Bali is exceptionally unique. In addition, Gamelan, a percussion ensemble from Bali, is a highly developed and diverse musical genre.

Hindu epics like the Ramayana are frequently depicted in Balinese performing arts, albeit with solid Balinese influences.

Pendet, Legong, Baris, Topeng, Barong, Gong Keybar, and Kecak are a few well-known Balinese dances.

With paid performances at countless temple festivals, exclusive ceremonies, or open concerts, Bali has one of the world’s most innovative and diversified performing arts traditions.

Balinese artists are equally adept at copying other people’s creations, such as carvings that resemble Chinese deities or vehicle decorations inspired by images in European periodicals.

In Bali, various dance forms are also used to distinguish the different gamelan genres.

According to Walter Spies, the art of dancing is a crucial component of Balinese culture and plays a vital role in numerous ceremonies and social purposes.

Although these traditions are often not thoroughly followed in contemporary Bali, visitors are encouraged to cover their legs when entering Balinese temples.

Economy of Bali

The more than 3,000,000 inhabitants of Bali, including those on the smaller islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, Serangan, and Menjangan Island, are dispersed throughout the entire island.

The 2021 figure (-2.47%) was still concerning, but things appear to be improving for Bali in 2022. The region’s economy expanded by 1.46% in the first quarter of 2022. The percentage rose to 3.04% in the second quarter. By the end of 2022, Bali is expected to have increased growth from 3.80% to 4.60%, according to Bank Indonesia.

Bali’s population is primarily employed in the agricultural industry. Rice is the principal crop, while the main exports are coconuts, pigs, and Arabica coffee. In addition to fishing, selling fish is a traditional job that is quite essential.

Language of Bali

The two languages most often spoken in Bali are Balinese and Indonesian, and most Balinese people are multilingual or trilingual.

Indonesian is the most often used language in tourist areas, as many people working in the industry are not native Balinese but immigrants from Java, Lombok, Sumatra, and other regions of Indonesia.

Although the most of Balinese are able to speak modern common Balinese. However, there are a number of indigenous Balinese languages.

Bali’s beauty, sceneries, and beaches

Although Bali’s beaches are renowned for their white sand and turquoise water, the island has a lot to offer besides a stunning coastline. The sceneries and environments of the islands are incredibly diversified, with luxuriant jungles, sweeping rice paddies, and undeveloped volcanic terrain.

There are numerous ways to take in Bali’s stunning surroundings. Put on your hiking boots and head to one of the island’s breathtaking waterfalls. You can also hike up a mountain in the morning or rent a motorcycle to see some of the island’s less well-known natural wonders.

Bali is a part of the Coral Triangle, home to the world’s greatest diversity of marine life. It is highly recommended that you visit the island on land and at sea because of the abundance of marine life that can be found in these vivid coral beds. View these beautiful underwater environments by diving or snorkeling, especially near Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan islands.

Festivals and Events

Celebrations are held for various events, such as a tooth-filing (a ceremony associated with coming-of-age), cremation, or odalan (temple festival).

D’sa Kala Patra, which denotes how ritual acts must be appropriate in both the particular and general societal context, is one of the essential ideas shared by Balinese rites.

Many ceremonial art forms, such as wayang kulit and topeng, are highly improvisatory, giving the performer the freedom to modify the performance to suit the situation.

A loud, raucous setting with lots of activity is required for many events, and the resulting aesthetic, rame, is uniquely Balinese.

Bali’s primary sector, tourism, has brought the island an enthusiastic foreign audience willing to pay for entertainment, resulting in new performance options and increased demand for artists.

Bottom line

Bali has a genuinely paradisiacal atmosphere because of its lush vegetation, volcanic scenery, and abundant marine biodiversity. The majority of Indonesia’s Hindu minority resides in Bali, which also has a thriving art scene and a rich cultural history. Numerous Hindu temples can be found on Bali, also known as The Island of the Gods, a small island.

In a nutshell, what distinguishes Bali from other well-known tourism destinations is its diversity. Each location has its environment, new activities, and population.

Where exactly Is Bali?

Let’s begin by asking the most basic question: Where on earth is Bali?

On the map, there’s a Southeast Asian nation named Indonesia. Bali is situated there, like a small tropical pearl in a vast ocean of islands. More than 17,000 different islands make up Indonesia. It resembles a necklace of land encircled by nations such as Australia, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Focus now on Bali. It’s a tiny, quaint island off to the east of Java, a larger island. These two islands used to be connected by land! Bali, therefore, acts as Java’s friendly neighbor, and the two combined make Indonesia magnificent.

So why exactly is Bali everyone’s preferred vacation destination?

Imagine a combination of amazing things that get your heart racing.
Imagine beautiful beaches wherein the sun mixes with the water to produce sparkling, dancing effects. Then there are these venerable temples that seem to snort backstories. Oh, and the rice terraces are like something from a fairy tale.

There’s a twist, though! Bali has waterfalls, forests to discover, and even imposing volcanoes if you want adventure. But if you’re a bit of a “take it easy” type, you may take advantage of the beaches, serene temples, and endless rice fields.

How long should you plan to spend there?

The longer you have, the better because it’s like this amazing feast.

Seven to ten days is quite amazing if you can afford it. That allows you many opportunities to take in Bali’s beauty, discover its riches, and make lifelong memories.

But hey, if you have a more restricted schedule, even a short period may be a blast. Bali offers so much that each day you stay, there is a present you’ll open for a long time.

Bali exudes an aura, an indescribable sense. It resembles heaven on earth. Why everybody is so fascinated by it makes sense. Bali is the ideal destination for everyone, no matter what kind of dreamer you are!

BALI WEATHER AND BEST TIME TO VISIT BALI

Bali in Dry Season

Comprehending Bali’s weather will be as easy as comprehending your favorite food, so let’s get started!

Island Life is Hot and Humid: Tropical Bali weather is like being in a warm, sweaty hug. All year long, it’s similar to putting on a warm blanket of dampness.

Rainy vs. Dry Seasons: Bali has two distinct seasons, contrasting each other like the two faces of a coin. The wet season lasts between November to April, while the dry season is from April to November. Even when it rains throughout the season, you may still travel, but it’s a good idea to schedule a few additional days just in case the weather changes.

Selecting the Ideal Moment: When is the ideal time to visit? The summertime is your buddy if you enjoy the sun and breeze. It seems like the sun was shining only for you!

Fun in the Rainy Season: But guess what? The rainy season in Bali has its allure. The rain generally falls in the evenings or at midnight, sparing your daytime escapades much of the damage. It’s also less busy.

Bali, therefore, has a season that is ideal for you, whether you’re seeking the sun or swaying in the rain!

So what’s the ideal time to start packing for Bali? Let’s reveal the truth! Bali may be visited all year round, but April to October is a great time to go.

Consider this period to be the dry season, the superhero of seasons. Bali is at its sunniest and clearest from April to October. It is your chance to shine if you enjoy the beach. There are many bright days, less rain, and a respite in the humidity.

Hold on, though; there’s more! It is your cup of tea if you enjoy exploration. You are free to engage in as much cycling, snorkelling, surfing, and hiking as you desire.

There is a fun event called the Bali Arts Festival in June and July. You won’t want to miss it if you like art.

How about the Bali Kite Festival? Another major issue is that. It resembles a vibrant kite dance in the skies honoring Balinese customs.

In conclusion, grab your bags and travel to Bali from April to October. It’s as if the island dons its sexiest party attire, especially for you.

Bali in Wet Season

Let’s speak about Bali’s rainy season, which runs from November to March and is essentially the island’s cozy period.

The air becomes quite humid during these months. So, certain outdoor activities could be postponed. Hey, don’t worry, however! It would help to treat yourselves to a relaxing spa day or other fun indoor activities.

The fact that Bali is less busy because it’s when it’s raining is an added plus. You could come across better offers that will satisfy your cash.

Oh, and the journey doesn’t end here! This season, white river rafting, jungle hiking, and even canyoning are popular activities. Additionally, include the Bali Spirit Fest on your calendar; it will take place in March or April and is similar to a yoga funfair.

Therefore, Bali’s rainfall has your name all over it if you’re up for a bit of rain dancing and some amazing experiences.

BALI ESSENTIALS YOU MUST KNOW

bali post10 10 bali travel guide

Hello, aspiring Bali traveler! Before visiting this amazing island, let’s go into some information you should know.

Power Play: Bali’s electricity dances to the beat of 220V and adores 2-pin plugs. If you lack an adaptor, don’t worry; you can get one at the store for a good price. A lot of hotels and locations also provide them.

Introducing Wi-Fi Wonderland: What? There is a Wi-Fi celebration going on in Bali! You can nearly always get fast, dependable internet anywhere, from cafés to pubs. Keep posting to Instagram, then!

Visa Vibes: A free 30-day visa is available for your trip to Bali if you are from one of the 169 nations listed, which includes India. Just verify that your passport is valid for at least another six months and that you have return tickets. Easy as pie!

Currency Cheers: The rupiah is the currency of choice, and notes in denominations of 1000, 2000, & so forth are common. Be wary of money changers attempting to get away with anything, especially in areas like Kuta and Seminyak. Look for the counting in the middle of you, the UV light trick, and signs concerning hats and sunglasses.

a bunch of money floating in the air

Cash & Cards: Bring some cash, but also allow yourself to count on your reliable credit or debit card because many locations take these. Just be wary of the nefarious 2-3% extra. ATMs are also dispersed throughout. Please be aware that some scams can happen at the ATM. It is common and it happened to me ( your card get scanned )

Change money : You can find absolutely everywhere . Same beware and count your money very carefully , as this is a local speciality ( Talk to you and then give you less money )

So here you have it: a brief overview of Bali’s useful necessities. You may explore, unwind, and savor every second on our idyllic island.

WHO AM I ?

Hello !

I am Eric, a French Australian citizen based between Australia, Asia and Bali an I love to travel and experience the world. I generally like outdoor activities, wellness, great food and venues , party and real local adventures ! I am a Yoga practitioner and fitness lover

I created this blog because I love to travel and I want to share my experiences with others. I’ve been traveling since I was a child, and I’ve been to over 50 countries. I’ve seen some amazing things and met some amazing people, and I want to help others experience the same things.

I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn about the world and about yourself. When you travel, you’re forced to step outside of your comfort zone and experience new things. You learn about different cultures, different religions, and different ways of life. You also learn about yourself, your strengths, and your weaknesses.

Travel can also be a great way to make new friends. When you’re traveling, you’re surrounded by people from all over the world, and you’re all in the same boat. You’re all there to explore and experience new things, and that can create a bond between people.
