Bali: Your Gateway to Paradise on the island of the gods

I live in Bali permanently and I wrote mote than 50 articles about this beautiful island of gods . So needless to say that I know the area pretty well , and that my blog is one of the best if you want advices or travel tips ! 

The funny story is that the first time when I went to Bali, I didn’t really liked it. I spent only 6 days though . I found it busy and average compare to South America and other countries . But at that time, the music, smell, smiles from nice local peoples already got me .

I went back alone 3 years later and I did find all the best places and I felt in love 💙.

The kindness and the smile of the locals is unmatched, the food is amazing, the landscape is stunning , the forrest and beaches are incredibles, Balinese hinduism is very interesting too .

What I really like in Bali is the versatility of the Island. You have a style for every taste. If you are spiritual you can go To Ubud, if you are into Yoga you can go to Ubud or Canggu, you like the popular simple vibe of mass tourism it would be Kuta , if you like resort and shopping it would be Seminyak, surf would be Canggu and Uluwatu, party would be Canggu or the Gilli T island , Scuba diving Ahmet, you don’t want to see anyone and be in the middle of the rice paddies ? Get lost North of Ubud. You REALLY don’t want to see anyone, go up north .

As I said, locals are AMAZING, then the peoples living on this beautiful island ( expats ) are incredible too. It is a mix of creative people, edgy, spirituals , entrepreneurs, digital nomads, influencers, Yogis , fitness peoples, life coaches. A perfect mix of beautiful energy on the island of gods .

Between traditional dances, active volcano , the pristine beaches, the Infiniti pools, balinese massage, the local food, you won’t be bored !

The most popular and well-known island in Indonesia is Bali, a paradise region that attracts tourists worldwide. Thousands of tourists visit Bali’s sandy beaches each year to enjoy the magnificent beauty, distinctive culture, and mouthwatering cuisine.

When was Bali discovered?

A squadron of Portuguese ships is said to have landed on Bali’s north shore in 1512, marking the beginning of European interaction with the island. Later, in 1597, the Dutch explorer Cornelius de Houtman set foot on the territory, and a second Dutch trip to Bali was launched in 1601.

History of Bali

Since prehistoric times, people have lived in Bali, and the earliest settlers were likely of Austronesian ancestry. However, people migrated to the island from all across Asia, including South China, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Oceania, bringing with them a variety of cultural influences. Particularly Indian Hinduism, which is believed to have originated in the first century, has had a significant impact on Balinese culture.

Throughout history, the island has been controlled by several dynasties, with the Belanjoing Pillar inscription serving as the earliest proof. This pillar, close to Sanur Beach, was constructed in the first decade of the tenth century. Sri Kesara, a Buddhist King of the Sailendra Dynasty, wrote this historic document. The Warmadewa Dynasty of Bali, the first era of known governance on the island, is thought to have been started by Sri Kesara.

The Majapahit dynasty succeeded the Warmadewa dynasty, which lasted until the 12th century. It governed until the second half of the 17th century and heavily influenced the island with Javanese culture. During this time, Bali acquired Javanese culture widely, which is reflected in much of the island’s architecture, dance, theatre, sculpture, and paintings.

Religion in Bali

Although Islam is the most common religion in most of Indonesia, Hinduism is practiced by many Balinese people. More than 80% of Balinese people practice Hinduism, compared to only 13.4% of Muslims on the island.

The Hinduism practiced in Bali is distinctive to the island and vastly different from that practiced in other nations. Hinduism is supposed to have come to Indonesia from India in the first century, where it was later assimilated with conventional animistic practices and beliefs.

The 2021 figure (-2.47%) was still concerning, but things appear to be improving for Bali in 2022. The region’s economy expanded by 1.46% in the first quarter of 2022. The percentage rose to 3.04% in the second quarter. By the end of 2022, Bali is expected to have increased growth from 3.80% to 4.60%, according to Bank Indonesia.

Bali’s population is primarily employed in the agricultural industry. Rice is the principal crop, while the main exports are coconuts, pigs, and Arabica coffee. In addition to fishing, selling fish is a traditional job that is quite essential.

Language of Bali

The two languages most often spoken in Bali are Balinese and Indonesian, and most Balinese people are multilingual or trilingual.

When you are in Bali, and if you have more time , you can explore those islands too : Nusa penida, Gili islands, Nusa Lembongan , Nusa Ceningan ( small island ) , Gilis Island ( Gili air is the best ).
You can even go to East Java or Lombok, or Flores, Komodo.

But please don’t run, do your itinerary smartly and don’t overcharge.

A lot of peoples go to the Gillis Island, I would recommend Nusa Lembongan, it is a beautiful place

• Introducing Wi-Fi Wonderland: What? There is a Wi-Fi celebration going on in Bali! You can nearly always get fast, dependable internet anywhere, from cafés to pubs. Keep posting to Instagram, then!

• Visa Vibes: A free 30-day visa is available for your trip to Bali if you are from one of the 169 nations listed, which includes India. Just verify that your passport is valid for at least another six months and that you have return tickets. Easy as pie!

• Currency Cheers: The rupiah is the currency of choice, and notes in denominations of 1000, 2000, & so forth are common. Be wary of money changers attempting to get away with anything, especially in areas like Kuta and Seminyak.
