Why does Bali have Amazing Breakfast places?

I spend most of my time on the Island and I have to say, I always look forward to breakfast. The choice of dishes is incredible ( especially in Canggu, Seminyal, Uluwatu, Ubud ) and the food I tasted over there is often better than in Europe or in the west . That’s logical when you know that there is a lot of chefs from overseas and that the standards are quite high in Bali ( with some very cheap options ) . So just enjoy your breakfast, try the places below and let me know what you think !

You will have a lot of choices in International breakfast everywhere around the Island ! Classical western, hipster and trendy dishes. However , when I travel, I love to discover the local cuisine, and this works for breakfast. Of course !

Traditional Indonesian food for breakfast

I will be honest , you might get disappointed

If you are looking for Balinese food with local ingredients, there is not a lot of choices, neither vegetarian options . Nasi campur and Nasi goreng are the most popular dishes, but won’t fit everybody’s taste buds. But it could be a great opportunity to try the traditional dishes, balinese cuisine and local produce on the island of the gods , and it is a great value.

Nasi campur is a traditional Indonesian breakfast. It is a rice dish that is typically served with a variety of side dishes, such as vegetables, meat, and eggs. Nasi campur can be found in many different parts of Indonesia, and it is often served at restaurants and warungs (small eateries).

Nasi campur is a very versatile dish, and the exact ingredients can vary depending on the region. However, some common ingredients include white rice, vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and beans, meat such as chicken or beef, and eggs. The side dishes are typically cooked in a variety of ways, such as grilled, fried, or steamed.

It is a very filling and satisfying breakfast. It is also a good source of protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins. If you are looking for a traditional Indonesian breakfast, nasi campur is a great option. But nothing fancy.

Here are some tips for making nasi campur:

* Use fresh, high-quality ingredients.
* Cook the rice according to the package directions.
* Marinate the meat in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.
* Grill or fry the meat until it is cooked through.
* Steam or boil the vegetables until they are tender.
* Serve the nasi campur with a variety of sauces, such as sambal matah, kecap manis, and peanut sauce.

Nasi campur is a delicious and nutritious breakfast that is perfect for a special occasion or a casual meal. It is also a great way to experience the flavors of Indonesia.

With affordable delicacies, Crate cafe is the best place to experience the richness of flavours at a feasible price.

The name Bali is surrounded by fantastic beaches, serene landscapes, and the most prestigious temples on the island. However, you might need to learn that Bali still rocks the show regarding food.

A variety that never ends with exotic flavors and traditional Indonesian and Balinese fusions is what you can expect to eat in Bali. Bali is a place with much foreign influence that has resulted in a great fusion between Western and traditional Indonesian cuisines. This influence has resulted in a typical taste that gives Western dishes a Balinese twist.

Add the peanut sauce as the dressing and serve it with a boiled egg or a local snack called emping.

2. Bubur Sumsum
A traditional Balinese breakfast food called Bubur Sumsum or bubur injin is a black rice pudding. Sweet in taste, it can be served as a dessert or even as a snack too. Bubur Sumsum is usually the comfort or preferred food for visitors with a sweet tooth.

It is easy to make with just white and black coconut-flavoured glutinous rice, sweetened milk or cream, palm sugar, and some local flavour leaves known as pandan leaves. It is served hot. You can top the dish with coconut cream to add more flavour and exoticism. The black glutinous rice makes the bowl unique, and you can’t resist trying it out.

3. Satay
Balinese culinary culture is filled with western food made exclusively with Indonesian herbs and spices for that rich blend and fusion of cultural food. One such dish is Satay, also known as sate by the locals. The dish is significant throughout southeast Asian countries with its smoky flavor and rich texture.

Satay is the best skewer with many parallels in other countries, such as the Turkish Kebab or Sosatie of South Africa. However, Satay is an Indonesian meat skewer with its authentic taste of Bali and is flavoured with spices before being grilled or barbecued. Made from the midrib of the coconut palm frond or bamboo, chicken, pork, mutton, or beef meat is used for it.

The dish can be made by combining different vegetables or fruit, such as paprika or pineapple, and is seasoned and sauteed with a spicy peanut sauce. It can be served with rice cakes or mixed slivers of cucumber and onion or eaten alone.

4. Nasi Goreng
Nasi Goreng Can be summed up as the definition for the entire Balinese cuisine, and it was chosen as the second most delicious food in the world by CNN in 2011. It is the most uncomplicated yet delicious dish eaten as breakfast in the entire Indonesian region. It can be combined and mixed with various ingredients yet remain incredibly flavourful.

Nasi Goreng often remains in the talk among the contenders for Indonesia’s national food position. You need stir-fried regular white rice with various spices and other ingredients, including tamarind, chilli, sweet soy sauce, and garlic which are undisputed the most ordinary ingredients ever.

Nasi Goreng is at the top of the list of dishes you cannot miss to try out, and it can be found throughout the entire region of Bali and other parts of Indonesia. It is also not an expensive food and can even be seen with the roadside vendors in the day or night anytime.

5. Babi Guling
Suckling pig, known as Babi Guling, is one of Bali’s most popular dishes. It is hand turned on an open fire and translates to turning pig. The dish dates back to its traditional past when it was served in religious ceremonies and celebrations, and now you can find it in several restaurants.

Ibu Oka in Ubud is a great place to try this dish out, which was made famous by a celebrity chef, which is why it is slightly higher on the price side.

6. Pepes Ikan
A whole fish marinated, wrapped in banana leaf, and steamed is known as Pepes Ikan. An authentic delight that you must try in Bali. The fish is cooked traditionally, absorbing all the flavors and spices and giving it a rich taste. Variety of fishes can be used to make Pepes Ikan.

However, sardines, snapper, and mackerel are some of the most famous fishes used to prepare this delight. Although Bali is most known for its meat dishes, the people are good at preparing seafood too.

7. Laklak
Add sweet flavor to your breakfast with the traditional balanced cake Laklak. Made from rice flour, it is usually white and green from the pandan leaves. A delicious aroma also makes this cake a feastful dessert.

Although the dish is generally eaten for breakfast, you can also have it as a snack at any time.

8. Nasi Campur
Camper translates as mix in English; therefore, Nasi Camper is a dish made of a mixture of small portioned side dishes with a scoop of rice. Tofu, tempeh, meat, and fish are some side dishes that are eaten along with Nasi Camper to give it the richness and authentic flavors of Bali. You can try the food out from a local vendor or a restaurant.

You might want to research the best restaurant to try out this exotic dish because the flavors are rich or bland depending on the place you go.
