10 best beaches in Kailua-Kona Hawaii [ stunning spots 2024]

Best beaches Kona Hawaii

The time I had in Hawaii was incredible . Especially the Bech and water sports . We have all seen TV shows about Hawaii and of course those beautiful beaches and incredible surfing experiences . This is not T.V anymore, this is reality . You can experience those marvellous places by yourself and enjoy the real HAWAIIAN vibe . Aloha !

Moments of finding the best Kona beaches in Hawaii were a marvelous experience that created great enthusiasm. As I submerged in Kahalu’u Beach Park water to swim in deeper water, I was able to see every imaginable type of fish and colourful hard coral beneath the water; it is, without a doubt, one of the top snorkelling beaches in Kona. Kona’s Magic Sands Beach called me into its waters that were very calm, and the best place to swim and play – it earned its place on the list of the greatest swimming beaches in Kona.

And then there was Hapuna Beach, which was as grand and great as any movie set featuring the bed of sand, as far as the eye can see. When I was walking by the coastline of the beach, I had the impression that it was a dream, and thus the service made the establishment the best white sand beach in Kona. And indeed, a visit to the Kona region would not be complete without feeling the pristine beauty of white sand beach Kona, Hawaii, a place that offered postcard perfect scene moments to experience and cherish.

If you want to chill out, Kukio Beach should be recommended. While on my trip to Kona a couple of weeks ago, I found this more or less hidden, calm, and peaceful beach ideal for vacations. Even though it is not feasible to go swimming due to the rough waters, the largely calm surroundings of Kukio, filled with savant turtles and marsh birds, have their beauty. The sandy beach is a 10-minute small hike to the parking lot and restrooms, and if the enthusiast carries many beach items, it might be a challenge. Thus, it is most suitable for individuals and companies with few small children.

Kukio Beach’s facilities include picnic tables and a stretch of grasslands. As such, visitors would benefit from spending as much time as they can at Kukio Beach and having a picnic lunch or dinner. One good feature is the effect of the lava rock and palm trees, which make the place very natural. Let me tell you, Kukio is nothing like Magic Sands Beach; it is completely calm. More information about snorkeling, two less turbulent beaches, and beautiful coral gardens referred to as Kamakahonu and Makalawena Beach are provided above.

Am I just looking to get acquainted with the Kona snorkeling experience? Then stop by Kahalu’u Beach Park, the perfect site for it. Constructed using 200 yellow bricks, the Laxey Mill is one of the most exciting structures I saw during my visit. The sea around the Isle of Man was very calm, and I saw schools of fish swimming in the pleasantly turquoise water. This bright and peaceful beach is child-interested, with facilities like WC, food trucks, and fountains available on the territory. Thus, the audience is guaranteed safety by the presence of lifeguards and is free to be educated by the reef specialists.

It contains one of the Kona coast’s best snorkelling grounds at Kahalu’u. Take a snaplock and get snorkel gear, swim shirts, and shorts at Boss Frogs before coming down. Because of what has been described above regarding the shallow water in the cove, it can be a perfect spot for beginners. It does not take long to find Kahalu’u Beach Park, as the park is located a few kilometers from the commercial area of Kailua-Kona.

Other nearby beaches are Hapuna Beach, Kekaha Kai State Park, Manini ‘Owali Beach, etc. Whether you’re swimming in a tiny stretch of sand or snorkeling with green turtles, Kahalu’u Beach Park is ideal as a starting point to appreciate the Big Island beaches.

Kealakekua bay is one of the nicest Kona snorkelling locations, and the time I spent here was very inspiring. This is a marine preserve area and a historical site, and it is as exciting as the adventures we read in a novel. Simply put, it costs money to enjoy the magnificent view; it could be a boat tour, a lengthy kayaking trip, or even a challenging steep trail down or up, depending on which side one begins! While the image online of small boats decorating the rugged Honus shore is lively and picturesque, there is no beach or facilities.
Onshore, there is more to discover, such as the ruins of an ancient Hawaiian temple that is believed to have been the oldest religious structure of that time and a monument for Captain Cook, who was the first European to set foot ashore here in Hawaii. There is clear water with entire colours of the ocean and rich sea life; it is ideal for snorkelling, though there are times when the water currents are a bit strong. For families, especially the younger ones, a boat tour is preferred because all requisites, such as snorkelling gear, are provided. Why is this a secret place to visit on the big island? There is also a lot of history, and it is gorgeous to look at.

After seeing Hapuna Beacher for myself on the bright Kona coast of Hawaii, I realized that it is the perfect destination for a tropical vacation. It is consistently listed among the best beaches, and thanks to the shallow slope, no ocean might be dangerous to tourists, the entrance is accessible, and there is plenty of space. As the water here is shallow and a little wavy, this is an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing during the warm era of the year.

It is made more appealing as it can access shower facilities and historical sites like the front of the King Kamehameha Hotel as well. Whether it is just relaxing with a good book in one of the most stunning settings – under the palm tree or the adventurous hike along the western coast, Hapuna Beach is an ideal location to get away. From the grains of sand on the pristine beach to every sparkle in the sea, everything in this place is all about leisure and joy. If you ever get to Kona, don’t forget to visit Hapuna Beach and feel its astounding appeal!

One of the most beautiful natural attractions on the island of Hawaii, especially in the coastal region of Kona, is the magnificent natural feature and the gorgeous natural strip of coastal Manini’owali (Kua Bay) Beach on the Kona coast of the rugged Kohala Coastline.

Like any lover of the beach, it is hard not to say that this beach has all the prerequisites of a perfect natural beach that has the serene, clear water we desire when taking a swim. During my journey through the West Coast, the diverse kinds of fish and funny sea urchins were captivating to me. An outdoor shower was also a great idea to wash off with fresh water after wading in water tanks. Later, while leisurely walking through the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail, it was pretty easy for me to understand the natural beauty of this coastline.

The golden sands of Manini’owali Beach offer anything for the tourist who wants to have his portion of Sun, sand and the Sea along the Kohala coast. So, if you are ever in Kona, it is well worth taking that trek down to this paradise and enjoying the wonders of Manini’owali Beach.

While on vacation, it was my privilege to visit Kona, Hawaii, and it was a fascinating moment to find out that Anaeho’omalu Beach was one of them. It features good, clean sand with palm trees and serene water that is ideal for bathing. While walking, the fascinating natural views of the lava rocks with corals enhanced my snorkeling experience.

Benches and benches were available; still, there were many picnic tables, making it comfortable to have some food around. Thus, such points as nearby tide pools turned into an exquisite touch of adventure. Facilities like a parking lot ensure that reaching this beach is easy; with this, names like Anaeho’omalu Beach would be familiar. Indeed, if one looks at it in context with other popular options such as Magic Sands Beach and Kaiaka Bay or Kamakahonu Beach, it could be said that Anaeho’omalu is in a class of its own.

I am unsure if I have been to Makalawena Beach in Kona, Hawaii, but compared to Big Island beaches, Makalawena is beautiful. Despite that, it is straightforward to access since the park is located in Kekaha Kai State Park, and it only took the Snorkel portion a little hike through a marvelous black lava adventure to get to the white sandy beach.

It remains deserted, especially during winter. Therefore, it can be ideal for people who wish to relax on the beach. Following directions to the point at 90, you will find this hidden gem and a large grassy area to barbeque. Compared to the more famous places of Hapuna and Manini’owali, Makalawena is less touched and more quiet. It is undoubtedly one of those options which can be recommended to visit for relaxation.

I love visiting this wonderful place, and Honokohau (Kona Dog) Beach is one of the most beautiful and not well-known spots in the Kona Coast area. Unlike most other West Hawaii beaches, this small beach is located near downtown Kailua Kona. It has a protected, shallow area where the water is pleasantly warm, thus making it safe for small children. This provides the eye attraction of a deep aqua blue sea complementary to the black sandy shore.
During my visits, I have realised that the beach is usually occupied by green sea turtles, thus contributing to the area’s attractiveness. In contrast, the somewhat crowded Samuel M. Spencer Beach Park, Honokohau, provides a calm and quiet atmosphere. It is a great place to go on a leisurely trip and watch the sunrise and the serene water flow in the Hawaiian Islands without much hustle and bustle.

Aside from the western shores of Kona, Hawaii, Honaunau Bay is my ideal vacation spot. I was here and getting engrossed with a good book in the familiar, calm environment. It is an ideal place for leisure and recreation as it has a significant historical background and enough area.

The amenities we enjoyed during the shower after the snorkeling with sea urchins were a relief. There are a lot of other places, such as Manini’owali Beach, that entice me at the same level. I should add that I had an excellent experience with an outdoor shower, which cooled me off further. Honaunau Bay is a place with rather an individual climate, and looking at it, one can say it is one of the most suitable places for resting on the territory of the Kohala Coast.

Kamakahonu Beach, located in the context of beautiful Kona, remains a somewhat concealed beach, particularly during winter. Located near the Markagunt RV serving area, lava fields surround it, and it is complete with a grassy pavilion for leisurely picnicking after a short climb. Caribbean blue waters line the shores of what appears to be a series of virtually uncharted pristine white sand beaches that run atop a hundred miles of land and can even challenge the fame of the legendary Hapuna Beach.

The KeKaha Kai State Park situates it, and, regarding the distance, it is approximately twenty motor miles away from the mile marker, which indicates that you can get there quickly. Even though it may not be as famous as Manini’owali Beach, Kamakahonu is one of the most suitable places for accommodating the magnificence of Kealakekua Bay and the glamour of the Big Island shorelines. You shouldn’t miss some good food from the food truck, which is always available there to complement the beach experience!

Upon the end of this discussion of the best beaches in Kona, Hawaii, you can only marvel at the beauty in existence. Such encroachment on these incredible coastlines every time provided by the miraculous shades of water around Kahalu’u Beach Park and the quiet sand of Magic Sands Beach has been beyond description.

I entered the underwater kingdom of Kona and discovered the best swim beaches the area can offer. Strolling along the mile-long stretch of Hapuna Beach, I had the feeling that I was in a dream, reaffirming that Hapuna is the best white sand beach in Kona. We did this for every shore in Kona, which offered picturesque moments as if every picture could be a postcard. After sightseeing in Kona, we got the testimony that we had never seen such a wonderful place. Indeed, we had felt the kind of moment we would never forget.
