Packing list for long term travel
Know how to pack your bag is important … But know what you have to put inside is even more primordial !
I’ve been travelling since 20 years, in any kind of travels ( luxury and backpacking ) and little by little I started to do my own personal list . I always said that my goals would be being able to pack my bag in 60 minutes if someone asked me to leave immediately.
In this extensive checklist below, you will find all the gears necessary for any kind of travels, luxury or backpacking, any countries ( Hot or cold ) , and any activities ( outdoor, sport, culture etc … )
So it is important that you do sort all those informations out and you pick the right items that you need, following your travel style
Same for genders, as I am a male, I might have forgotten specific women gears or accessories for female traveler , but I guess you will think about it once you reach the adequate category .
Don’t forget to check our full guide about many countries :

Type the country or the subject you want in the search bar
Just use the search function 🔎 on the website for the best results
What I learnt from my previous trips ( especially my 13 months world trip ) is that overpacking is not good at all . Firstly, you realise that you will use some items 5 % of the time , secondly your backpack gets so heavy and it is a real pain for long term travel , thirdly you will definitively buy more stuff, like souvenirs etc … 100 % sure .
You might damage your backpack too due to the extra weight and volume . And last but not least, you can lost or get robbed more easily . I would really advice to pack light and if you really missing something, you can buy while travelling ( some countries might even be cheaper than your home place ) .
Another thing that I always say : ” as long as you have your credit card, your passport, your phone you are all good to go ! “
And that’s true, that’s all you need. You can buy while travelling and then taylor your volume rather than take too much

📌 Cushion
Comfort on the Go
Feeling comfy while you’re traveling is really important to have a nice time. Those long flights to this tropical place can be tiring, so it’s a good idea to bring a cushion that you can inflate for your neck and back. It doesn’t take up much space in your backpack.
Also, you should definitely get a travel pillow. It helps support your neck when you’re on long road trips around Bali. Bali has lots of different landscapes to explore, so you’ll be in the car for a while sometimes.
📌 Clothes
Even though it’s warm most of the time, having a hoodie can be handy for cooler evenings, especially in places like mountains or northern hemisphere. A hoodie is a versatile choice to stay cozy while you’re traveling, whether you’re out exploring, relaxing, or just chilling on a quiet beach. Some diverse landscapes invite travelers to embark on road trips, whether it’s along the scenic coastline or through the terraced rice fields. With a travel pillow, you can enjoy these journeys without discomfort.

When you’re exploring your tropical paradise, it’s super important to take care of your health and stay hydrated. The weather can be pretty warm, so having a good water bottle, like the LifeStraw bottle, can make a big difference. It not only lets you drink clean water from different sources like natural springs and streams but also helps the environment because you won’t need to buy bottled water.
Also, as of my last update in September 2022 , it’s important to have a mask with you. This is especially true in crowded places or during health crises like pandemics. A quality pair of sunglasses not only shields your eyes from harmful UV rays but also enhances your comfort in the bright tropical sunlight.
Consider polarized sunglasses, which reduce glare and offer better visibility, especially when you’re near water or in environments with intense reflections.

A carabiner is a handy tool for attaching items to your backpack or securing your gear when needed. It’s a versatile accessory that can be used for various purposes, such as hanging your wet swimwear to dry or attaching your water bottle to your bag for easy access. I wrote more than 70 articles about the Island of Bali :
Is it safe to travel to Bali ?
AND WAY MORE !
WHO AM I ?
Hello !
I am Eric, a French Australian citizen based between Australia, Asia and Bali an I love to travel and experience the world. I generally like outdoor activities, wellness, great food and venues , party and real local adventures ! I am a Yoga practitioner and fitness lover
I created this blog because I love to travel and I want to share my experiences with others. I’ve been traveling since I was a child, and I’ve been to over 50 countries. I’ve seen some amazing things and met some amazing people, and I want to help others experience the same things.
I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn about the world and about yourself. When you travel, you’re forced to step outside of your comfort zone and experience new things. You learn about different cultures, different religions, and different ways of life. You also learn about yourself, your strengths, and your weaknesses.
Travel can also be a great way to make new friends. When you’re traveling, you’re surrounded by people from all over the world, and you’re all in the same boat. You’re all there to explore and experience new things, and that can create a bond between people.
Uyuni Salar, Boliva
Let’s connect together !
I hope that my travel blog will inspire others to travel and to see the world. I also hope that it will help people to learn about different cultures and to become more open-minded.
