With over 150 carp weighing 30lb+, 39 carp over 40lb, and even a couple of 50lb giants, it’s no wonder this lake has a special place in many anglers’ hearts. The lake is stocked with a good cross-section of all strains of carp, including the original fisher pond mirrors and clean commons. If you’re looking for a challenge, Berners Hall is the place to be! It is a beautiful lake in the essex countryside and a main reservoir of beautifull carps.

Newland Hall Fishery: A Carp Angler’s Dream

For those who love a good challenge, Crowsheath Main Lake is a must-visit. This lake contains about 350 carp averaging 18lb, with around 120 twenties present at the right time of year. There are also seven known thirties and rumors of a forty that hasn’t been caught in years. The venue boss, Nick Kearsey, lives on-site and is always happy to dispense advice to anglers. With its hot pegs along the south bank and the allowance of zigs (as long as they’re not touching the surface), Crowsheath offers a unique and rewarding fishing experience. The main lake, about 4 acres in size, is a mature, established lake that wouldn’t look out of character as an estate lake. It’s stocked with carp up to 35lb, tench over 7lb, and pike up to 26lb. The match lake, with 22 pegs, is heavily stocked with carp, perch, roach, rudd, and bream. The fishery also offers a private stretch of the River Chelmer, where you can purchase a day ticket for just £8. With portable toilets on-site and the peaceful countryside surroundings, Blasford Hill is a perfect spot for a relaxing day of fishing. This particular lake is one of my favourite .
