I begin my evening in Ubud at CP Lounge, a hidden gem nestled among the dense greenery of Campuhan Ridge. As I walk along the forest-like path, I feel as though I’m entering a secret domain of drink and companionship. Because of the towering trees around it and the soft candlelight, the lounge exudes rustic charm.

CP Lounge’s mixologists are masters in their area and are known for their inventive cocktails. I start with a ‘Bali Bliss’, a cocktail made with fresh coconut water, arak, a traditional Balinese liquor and a dash of lemongrass. The beverage is refreshing and delivers a flavour of regional flavours with a modern twist.

Because of the relaxed atmosphere, I start up a conversation with other passengers sitting at the long wooden bar. It’s easy to lose track of time in this tranquil retreat, but there’s still the rest of the night to explore.

My search for the best bars in Ubud leads me to Frida’s Mexican Beach House, a bustling cantina that transports you to the Mexican coast. Frida’s, a busy restaurant on Monkey Forest Road, serves delectable margaritas as well as a flavour of Latin American culture.

I chose a conventional margarita made with excellent tequila and freshly squeezed lime juice. Each sip of the beverage, presented in a glass with a salt rim, is the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and salty flavour. As I sip my margarita, I’m surrounded by other customers’ active conversation, bright decor, and the fascinating rhythms of Latin music.

Frida’s also serves a delectable Mexican menu, including mouthwatering tacos and fiery enchiladas. It’s the type of place where you can enjoy delicious food and cocktails, making it an excellent pick for a fun night out.

A Taste of Bali at Bali’s CP Bar and Restaurant

As the night wore on, I returned to CP Bar and Restaurant, CP Lounge’s sister establishment, which is only a short distance away. Even though CP Lounge provides a cosier setting, the celebration truly begins at CP Bar and Restaurant.

The outside location encourages a relaxing environment that is great for unwinding, thanks to its spacious grass and wooden deck. As I settle into a seat overlooking the rice terraces, I order a “Bali Breeze,” a tropical drink made with fresh pineapple juice, coconut rum, and a dash of grenadine. It’s the kind of drink that transports you to Bali’s picture-perfect beaches.

Live music fills the air as local bands take the stage to perform a mix of reggae, rock, and Indonesian oldies. The dance floor screams my name, and before I know it, I’m swaying to the music, surrounded by residents and visitors who have come to enjoy the evening.

The CP Bar and Restaurant embodies Bali nightlife, which is a mix of leisure, live music, and life celebration. It’s a place where you can travel while learning about the local culture.

No Mas: Into the Night in Ubud

As the evening progresses, I make my way deeper into Ubud’s centre until I come upon No Mas, a hidden gem known for its homemade beverages and intimate environment. No Mas is a pleasant speakeasy-style pub on a quiet street off Monkey Forest Road that has the air of a well-kept secret.

Cocktails on the No Mas menu are both visually appealing and delicious, which is a testament to the craft of mixology. A “Saffron Sour,” a sensuous mix of saffron-infused gin, fresh lemon juice, and a touch of sugar, is my drink of choice. A little saffron thread is used to embellish the beverage, adding a touch of visual beauty to the experience.

The darkly lit bar’s comfortable environment is great for getting to know one another and silent reflection. It’s a place to appreciate your drink, admire the talent that goes into each cocktail, and revel in the excitement of discovery.

No Mas also includes live jazz concerts on certain nights, raising the already upmarket environment even more. In stark contrast to Ubud’s bustling streets, this place encourages you to take your time, savour your drink, and appreciate the moment.

Dancing the Night Away at Laughing Buddha Bar

I wouldn’t have finished my investigation of Ubud’s nightlife if I hadn’t stopped by the Laughing Buddha Bar. This well-known site on Ubud’s main road has long been a favourite of both tourists and locals.

The Laughing Buddha Bar is famous for its bustling dance floor, live music and late-night entertainment. The sound of a live band performing popular rock and blues songs welcomes me inside. I join in on the dance floor movement, and we all dance the night away with people from all around the world.

The bar offers a large selection of beers, cocktails and spirits, making it easy to find the beverage of your choice. I chose a typical mojito, a rum-based beverage mixed with fresh mint, lime juice, and sugar that is perfect for the vibrant atmosphere.

The party at Laughing Buddha Bar is not slowing down as the evening progresses. It’s the kind of place where the hours pass in a blur of music and laughter, and time appears to stand still.

A Tour of Ubud’s Nightlife

Ubud is well-known for its rich cultural past and peaceful settings, yet it also offers a lively nightlife. For night owls and partygoers, Ubud offers a wide range of experiences, from the rustic elegance of CP Lounge to the Latin rhythms of Frida’s, the busy ambience of CP Bar and Restaurant to the quiet charm of No Mas, and the dynamic dance floor of Laughing Buddha Bar.

As I wind down my study of Ubud’s nightlife, I’m reminded of the town’s bias to surprise and delight its visitors.
