How to Perfectly Pack Your Backpack for Travel: My Tips & Tricks

How to pack a backpack for your trip Pack Your Backpack

I have been traveling since a while now and I have a few suitcases and backpack for my international trips . It really depends on what I aim doing and where I go. If more urban classy trip I use a Rimowa suitcase 120 litres, but if do a rough hardcore trip I use a backpack. The last few years I used a mix between both : the name is a backpack trolley bag ( a backpack that you can pull and roll on the ground without carrying all the time ) . I have a personal preference for this type, it is very handy, especially for the access as it opens wide, and you don’t have to carry it on your shoulder . But there is disadvantages too, and I will do a complete blog about it later .If you are a newbie traveler, I did an explanation about the difference between suitcases and backpack below !

Suitcase, Backpack or trolley ?

Shall I Choose a Suitcase or a Backpack?

When it comes to travel, there are two main types of luggage to choose from: suitcases and backpacks. Both have their own pros and cons, so it’s important to weigh the factors carefully before making a decision.

Suitcases

Pros:

✔️ Suitcases are easier to pack and organize.
✔️ They offer more protection for your belongings.
✔️ They’re more durable and can withstand more wear and tear.
✔️ Suitcases are easier to transport, especially if you’re taking public transportation or flying.

Cons:

✔️ Suitcases can be heavy and bulky, making them difficult to carry around.
✔️  They’re not as comfortable to wear as backpacks.
✔️ Suitcases don’t offer as much flexibility in terms of how you pack your belongings.
✔️ If there is stairs , rough track etc your can’t use it.
✔️ Not for rough travel definitively, but perfect for urban set up

Backpacks

Pros:

✔️ They’re more versatile and can be used for a variety of activities, such as hiking, camping, and traveling.
✔️ Backpacks offer more flexibility in terms of how you pack your belongings.
✔️ They’re easier to carry around, especially if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking.
✔️ Perfect for nature, rough terrains or anything out of cities

Cons:

✔️ Backpacks can be difficult to pack and organize.
✔️ They don’t offer as much protection for your belongings as suitcases.
✔️ They’re not as durable and can’t withstand as much wear and tear.
✔️ Backpacks can be more expensive than suitcases.

So, which type of luggage is right for you?

It depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re looking for something that’s easy to pack and organize, offers more protection for your belongings, and is more durable, then a suitcase is a good option.

If you’re looking for something that’s more comfortable to wear, offers more flexibility in terms of how you pack your belongings, and is easier to carry around, then a backpack is a good option.

Here are some additional factors to consider when choosing between a suitcase and a backpack:

– Your travel plans : If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking or hiking, then a backpack is a better option. If you’re going to be spending most of your time in cities or taking public transportation, then a suitcase is a better option.

– The weight of your luggage. If you’re going to be packing a lot of heavy items, then a suitcase is a better option. If you’re going to be packing mostly light items, then a backpack is a better option.

– Your budget. Backpack can be more expensive than suitcases , so it’s important to factor in your budget when making a decision.

No matter which type of luggage you choose, make sure it’s the right size for your needs. A suitcase that’s too big will be difficult to carry around, and a backpack that’s too small won’t fit all of your belongings.

HOW MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF BACKPACK ARE THERE ?

If you haven’t chosen yet, please find my explanation below . As written in the intro, if you are looking for a large backpack ( more than 50 litters ) you have the possibility to buy a trolley backpack too ( a backpack that can be pull and roll on the ground without carrying all the time )

There are many different types of backpacks for travelers, each with its own unique features and benefits. Here are a few of the most popular types:

The classic backpack: This is the most common type of backpack, and it’s perfect for travelers who are looking for a versatile and durable option. Classic backpacks typically have two shoulder straps, a main compartment, and a few smaller pockets. They’re available in a variety of sizes, so you can find one that’s the right size for your needs.

The hiking backpack: Hiking backpacks are designed for, well, hiking. They’re typically larger than classic backpacks and have more features, such as a built-in hydration system, a waist belt, and a sternum strap. Hiking backpacks are also made from durable materials that can withstand the elements.

The travel backpack: Travel backpacks are designed for travelers who are looking for a lightweight and versatile option. They’re typically smaller than classic backpacks and don’t have as many features, but they’re still perfect for carrying your essentials. Travel backpacks are also often made from water-resistant materials, so you can keep your belongings dry even in the rain.

The laptop backpack: Laptop backpacks are designed for travelers who need to carry their laptop with them. They typically have a padded laptop compartment and a variety of other features, such as a water bottle holder, a headphone port, and a USB charging port. Laptop backpacks are available in a variety of sizes, so you can find one that’s the right size for your laptop.

The anti-theft backpack: Anti-theft backpacks are designed to protect your belongings from thieves. They typically have features such as slash-proof fabric, locking zippers, and hidden compartments. Anti-theft backpacks are a great option for travelers who are concerned about theft ( expensive cameras gears for example )

WHO AM I ?

Hello !

I am Eric, a French Australian citizen based between Australia, Asia and Bali an I love to travel and experience the world. I generally like outdoor activities, wellness, great food and venues , party and real local adventures ! I am a Yoga practitioner and fitness lover

I created this blog because I love to travel and I want to share my experiences with others. I’ve been traveling since I was a child, and I’ve been to over 50 countries. I’ve seen some amazing things and met some amazing people, and I want to help others experience the same things.

I believe that travel is one of the best ways to learn about the world and about yourself. When you travel, you’re forced to step outside of your comfort zone and experience new things. You learn about different cultures, different religions, and different ways of life. You also learn about yourself, your strengths, and your weaknesses.

Travel can also be a great way to make new friends. When you’re traveling, you’re surrounded by people from all over the world, and you’re all in the same boat. You’re all there to explore and experience new things, and that can create a bond between people.
